DB's Review of Dark Knight

...so db saw the new Batman over the weekend and was impressed...

..."it completely lives up to the hype and gives a completely fresh interpretation of the original film"...

..."Christian Bale's performance as Batman is fiercely intense and successfully captures the dark and troubled man behind the mask"...

..."Heath Ledger's performance is simply flawless... you completely get lost in his hysterically evil character... he deserves the Academy Award and will quite possibly receive it posthumously"...

..."the movie sets the standard of any future Batman franchise films"...

Out of this World: The Wall-E Review

...db loved Wall-E...

..."Pixar's perfect record continues... with the huge challenge of making us care about characters that barely speak... Wall-E packs a lot of heart along with subtle social messages for our increasingly "disconnected" world"...

..."Of course, the production quality was excellent and was a delight to watch"...

..."However, in a departure from previous Pixar movies... this one's not about friendship... it's about love"...

...db recommends you see it in a digitally-projected theater so you can enjoy the small details in the background...

...below a clip from the animated short "Presto" that runs before the movie...

Indy, Part Four

..as db figured... "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was a mixed bag...

...Shia LeBeouf over-acted... and Spielberg/Lucas used too much CGI for some scenes...

...however... the sets were huge and massive and the movie moved pretty quick...

...the music and theme felt consistent with the rest of the series... but WHAT'S UP WITH THE ALIENS AND THE LAME ENDING?????... weak.

...so db says it was on par with "Temple O'Doom" which doesn't say very much...

...still it's a great movie to start out summer and perfect popcorn enjoyment... what else could you want?...

...Oh, yeah. Sean Connery...

Narnia Review

...db: "The movie gets right into it. The Pevensie children find their way back into Narnia. They're shocked to find it's changed a bit from in the last 1,000 years since they left. Anyhoo, the story is much darker and the fight scenes are surprisingly intense. Refreshing though, since Harry Potter takes forever (several movies) to get to the good stuff-- when the kids actually fight the bad guys like their lives depend on it"...

..."the production, of course, is top notch and the story advances nicely. Some of the new characters like Reepicheep (inspiration for Shrek's Puss in Boots) give some relief during the intense plot lines"...

..."the final word: approaching LOTR's production values with a slightly less confusing story. Not for kids under 12"...

TSO

...another review...

...TSO's recent concert here in LV... totally rocked...

...DB already had a deeply held love for Christmas music... but says their ova-da-top light and music show took that to another level...

...although the recorded stuff can come across a bit cheezy... hearing them live will blow you away...

...for your enjoyment... the TSO house which even TSO said required way too much free time...

Magorium

..."Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium"... the movie where Dustin Hoffman tries to out-weird J. Depp in the recent Willy Wonka v2.0...

...DB actually thought it was good... totally unique although a tad bit slow for little folks...
